Hi everyone,
I recently finished Ember by Jessical Samuels. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. You can see more about what this book is about here before heading into my review. I didn't really know anything about this book before picking it up and getting started on it. Number One: I loved that it was super short, it made it very easy to get through. So if your looking for a quick book to just plow through in a few days or don't have a lot of time to read this one is perfect. I will say I really liked that it was super fast and there was no downtime between scenes in the book it was almost like it was written more in a screenplay fashion rather than a book per se. Also, the language is a little basic I wish there would have been more variation in the writing style but that's just me. I like a good mix of words when reading a story.
On to the actual story and not the mechanics. I think this was a super cool concept of Angle witches. It was definitely an interesting make-up like a crossbreed between angles and witches. We could have had way more of the lore on this. I enjoyed the nod to the bad witches coven being called a "Poison Apple." We also get a lot of the supernatural thrown into the mix I'm not the biggest fan of shifters but I think the idea for more than just werewolves is a pretty good concept. I think I would have rather had a different type of shifter than a spider though a little creepy.
Over all I would recommend this one since it is so fast and really just want a book for fun. I think this one would be a perfect fit.
