Book Review: The Merciless

Hi everyone,
I recently finished The Merciless by Danielle Vega. I gave this book 3.2 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. You can see more about what this book is about here before heading in to my review.  Another bookish thing you can check out is my July TBR 2020 on TikTok @brinadancer to see it and the other books I'm reading this month. I also have up a book haul of books I got before the lock down for COVID-19 you can check it out here. I'd love to know what your reading this month as week let me know either here in the comments or on my video.

Hopping on in to the review. So I started this book thinking that it was a spin of Mean Girls with a little bit of horror sprinkled in which it kinda is but not exactly. I would compare it more to the MTV series Scream since its way more intense than just Mean Girls. It was also a little slow at the beginning since we have quite a bit of build up before we get to the main exorcism  but once I got to the main part I couldn't put it down. I literally spent an afternoon finishing it because I wanted to see where it all went. I would say that if you really wanted to you could read this all in one day if you have the time. Secondly I didn't know weather I liked or if it was just that messed up is another reason I kept reading. That being said this is a pretty gory book but it was like I couldn't stop reading it. Eekk. Also, I think we left off some major character development. We get a little about Sofia but I wanted way more especially since it kinda of left a blank about her heritage it gives us a little but not enough to really understand everything or how her heritage ties in to the story.

I think this is an interesting read especially if you like horror or if you just curious about it. I know lots of Adult horror books are so long so its nice this YA is lot shorter and pretty quick to read. I don't know if I would exactly recommended this one to everyone since it is so weird and out there and on a different level than the other books I've read. If you'd read this one let me know what your thoughts are. I also got the other 2 in the series so I so I may read those soon and see if their any better.

Lastly, if your looking for other books I have reviews up for Arc of A Scythe Trilogy up, Marked, and the Lost Heroes of Olympus series: The Lost HeroSon of Neptune and Mark of Athena. And  A Storm of Magic.

If you've read this book let me know what your thoughts are and what your reading right now in the comments.

Thanks for reading,  please don’t forget to like, comment, and follow for more of my posts.
