Book Review: The Mortal Instruments

Hi everyone,

Since I have finally finished this series can now review it for you. I gave this series 5 out of 5 stars on GoodReads. To save from the spoilers I won't go in depth. I will say that I when I choose to read this series I started a few years a go then this past spring I decided to pick it up again. So I actually reread the first 3 books on audiobook then the last 3 in actual print. I think this made for a great combination since I had already read the first 3, plus it was a good review instead of jumping in where I left off. Another thing is the time span that I read these was perfect for the setting of the series spring/summer shifting to fall/winter it matched so wonderfully. It was literally like I was in the Shadowhunter world. That is my first recommendation is if your starting this series definitely start it like I did it makes it so much better. As this series progresses you notice that Claire leaves no room for doubt as to what happens to characters. There is literally a ton of information and drama in the last few books just look at their immense size, their huge.  The saying "I like big books and I can not lie" totally fits these. On to the actual writing and characters. I personally loved all the characters I think my favorite though is Simon and Isabelle. I loved there story so much maybe because I related to them more. I also like that every chapter we get a little of each story so that we're not waiting for 30 to 40 pages to get to the next character. I definitely recommend that you give this one a read. It is so popular for a reason and it builds on her other series.
Now that I have read all the books I am currently watching the FreeForm show Shadowhunters so look for a review of season 1 and season 2.
