Duology Review: The Crown's Game

I recently read The Crown's Game & The Crown's Fate  by  Evelyn Skye.  This is a duology. So if your in to short series this is perfect for you.
I gave The Crown's Game 4.5 out of 5 stars on GoodReads. I gave The Crown's Fate 4.5 out of 5 stars on GoodReads.
This is the GoodReads Synopsis for The Crown's Game:
"Vika Andreyeva can summon the snow and turn ash into gold. Nikolai Karimov can see through walls and conjure bridges out of thin air. They are enchanters—the only two in Russia—and with the Ottoman Empire and the Kazakhs threatening, the tsar needs a powerful enchanter by his side.

And so he initiates the Crown’s Game, an ancient duel of magical skill—the greatest test an enchanter will ever know. The victor becomes the Imperial Enchanter and the tsar’s most respected adviser. The defeated is sentenced to death.

Raised on tiny Ovchinin Island her whole life, Vika is eager for the chance to show off her talent in the grand capital of Saint Petersburg. But can she kill another enchanter—even when his magic calls to her like nothing else ever has?

For Nikolai, an orphan, the Crown’s Game is the chance of a lifetime. But his deadly opponent is a force to be reckoned with—beautiful, whip-smart, imaginative—and he can’t stop thinking about her.

And when Pasha, Nikolai’s best friend and heir to the throne, also starts to fall for the mysterious enchantress, Nikolai must defeat the girl they both love…or be killed himself.
As long-buried secrets emerge, threatening the future of the empire, it becomes dangerously clear—the Crown’s Game is not one to lose."

On with the review, I won't go in to much detail about The Crown's Fate since it is the second one so no spoilers. I think this was a great start in a high fantasy world. Since this series is only a duology, it is very fast paced and pretty easy to follow. I really enjoyed the setting of the story. It's set in imperial Russia so it adds to the over all grandness and feeling of the world. Second thing I really like was the magic. Some of the scenes are super imaginative when it comes to the magic users and their abilities.Since this is a competition between to Enchanters we get to see how different each of the two's abilities are. Third thing I really liked was the writing style the language used was very easy to read and beautiful.

In The Crown's Fate we continue on with everything that has happened in The Crown's Game. I almost enjoyed the second one more since it wrapped up everything and had a great ending. Again it writing style was really beautiful even though there wasn't as much importance placed on magic like in the first book.

I do definitely recommended this duology to everyone. It's that good. Please go check it out.
