Book Review: The Lunar Chronicles: Scarlet

I recently read Scarlet by Marissa Meyer the second book in the Lunar Chronicles. This was a re-read for me. I think I enjoyed this book a second time more than the first. The reason I re-read this was because I got Winter the last in the series and needed a refresher since I read the first and second books over a year or more ago.
Please don't read below there are spoilers if you haven't already read the book!
I gave Scarlet 3.5 out of 5 stars on GoodReads.
This is the GoodReads Synopsis:
"Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner."

First off I really liked this book and I liked that it was a fairy tale retailing. I think these are becoming more popular for the YA audience since we all know the classics.

Secondly, I liked the characters of Scarlet and Wolf but I found their story to be a little boring and not as good as Cinders. I will say that I did like this a whole lot better the second time through. I just couldn't relate to their story and I didn't really understand why Scarlet was so determined to save her grandmother when all her grandmother had done was lie to her. I know kinda of heartless of me but it put Scarlet in more danger than it was worth.

As you know from my previous review I like Cinder and her story line. In Scarlet Meyer add a new character to Cinders story, Carswell Throne. He a character I think he has a pretty boy attitude but overall I really like his character.

I did like how all the characters came together and meet up, it made for a pretty cool series of events. I think that was my favorite part of the whole book.

I do recommend that you give this book a read and the series, if you want to continue on with the characters. I'm on Cress now. There will be a book review for that soon.
